Eldora

Larry Edwin Tremmel, 74, of Eldora, passed away on January 18, 2021, at Mercy One Medical Center in Des Moines after a battle with health ailments. A family-directed gathering will be held in the future. Creps-Abels Funeral Home is caring for Larry and his family. Online messages of condolences may be left at www.abelsfuneralhomes.com.

Larry Edwin Tremmel was born on July 11, 1946, in Sigourney, Iowa, to his parents James and Francis (Hubbel) Tremmel. He attended Sigourney High School, graduating with the class of 1963. After his schooling, Larry enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at many different installations during his service to our great nation. He would go on to start his career driving a truck over the road, which he would go on to do for many years, hauling a wide variety of cargo from fruit to livestock. Larry would go on to achieve his associate’s degree in general studies many years after his primary schooling, an accomplishment he was very proud of. When Larry wasn’t behind the steering wheel of his 18-wheeler, his heart belonged to his family and his love of the great outdoors. If he wasn’t spending some quality time with his family, he was out hunting for Morrel mushrooms or whatever was in season at the time. If you couldn’t find him hunting, he was probably tinkering on something which was a passion and pursuit he shared with so many other men.  Larry was a proud member of the NRA and many hunting and fishing related organizations.

Larry is survived by his loving children: Heather of Eldora and Kate of Des Moines; grandchildren:  Megan, Patience, Autumn, Jayden, Kayla, Faith, Kuemper, Zarrack, Henry J. and Maggie; brother James; sisters Diane, Phyllis, Angie, Pam and Cheryl. He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Todd and Joshua, sister Marie, and brother Terry.
