Mitchel Jon Koch, 63, of Wellsburg, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at the UnityPoint Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 4th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Wellsburg. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mitch was born on July 27, 1958, the son of Christopher and Marion (Siefken) Koch. He grew in Holland and attended Grundy Center High School. He then went to work at an amusement park in Texas before returning to Iowa and work as a farm hand on local farms. He was very proud to then move onto to becoming a truck driver. He worked for Jerry Schipper, Kruger Seed, Panama Trucking and owned and operated his own business Koch Trucking LLC.

Mitch loved to play sports in his youth and loved to watch sports all his life. He enjoyed going to auto races and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Later in his life, Mitch became born again religious and found a spiritual home at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he was an active member. He also volunteered at the food bank and helped raise his nieces and nephews. He will be missed and long remembered by all who knew him.

Mitch is survived by his niece Angela Cross of Waterloo; nephews Brandon Cross of Waterloo, Darrell (Danielle) Jones of Independence, and John Boldon of Waterloo; grandnieces and grandnephews Marion Hayden, Taiven, Naleah and Kaisen Jones; sister Janet Bolden; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
