Tracee Ann Kirkpatrick, 66, of Dike, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo after a long and valiant battle with cancer. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to protect the health and safety of all, services are currently being limited as required by state and local authorities and the CDC. Per Tracee’s wishes, there will be no formal services held at this time. Tracee asks: "Remember me as I was". Memorials may be directed to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, addressed to 505 5th Ave # 444, Des Moines, IA 50309. Tracee Ann Kirkpatrick (Johnson) was born on December 16, 1953, in Cedar Rapids, IA, to her parents Dean and Dolores (O’Brien) Johnson. She grew up in Van Horne and graduated from Benton Community High School with the class of 1972. Tracee attended UNI, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1976, having majored in Food Nutrition and Business; she was a sister of Alpha Chi Omega. After working for a year in Cherokee, IA, at MHI, she was united in marriage to Allen Leo Kirkpatrick on April 22, 1978. They made their home in Dike and she worked for UNI in their food services, retiring in 2018 after 36+ years.

While Tracee was a reserved person, she loved spending her time with her husband Allen. Her best time was spent outdoors, especially biking; she took many trips all over Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. She also shared a love of music, attending many memorable concerts with Allen. She will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband Allen of Dike; mother Dolores Johnson of Van Horne, IA; brothers Matthew (Jill) Johnson of Middle Amana, IA, and Mark (Barb) Johnson of Vinton, IA; sister Terri (Dave) Hinman of Edmond, OK; brother-in-law Rick McNabb of Blue Grass, IA; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Dean and sister Tova McNabb.
